Characteristics
Prevention of Dents and Scratches
Our felt is more flexible and resilient than
traditional carbon or teflon slabs and will not harden in service (as
will asbestos). When correctly used, It can prevent or
minimise the occurence of dents and scratches on aluminium extrusions
and therefore improve yield ratios and productivity.
Elimination of "Black Spot"
Our felt has low thermal conductivity (0.16 W /
m°C ) approximately 1 / 1000th that of carbon, because of its felted
construction . It therefore does not "chill" the hot aluminium at the
area of contact, which is the cause of "Black Spot".
Excellent Durability
It has a three dimensionally interlocked
fibre construction created by needle felting, consequently,
will not fray or curl as woven fabrics do. Such distorsions frequently
result in damage to the extrusions being conveyed. Unlike carbon or
teflon, Our felt cannot fracture thus eliminating this cause of
frequent replacement or refitting.
Non-toxic-Safe
The felt does not emit any noxious gases or
injurious substances during its using.
Wide and Varied Applications-Versatile
In its numerous forms can be used in the aluminium extrusion process from the initial table through to the saw
charge and for spacer bars and aging furnace crate lining. It may also
be used as a cushion material in aluminium plate rolling.
Variety of Forms
Can be fabricated into various forms and
shapes such as belts, tubes, bars, plates, diamonds etc.
Excellent Heat Resistance
Is made of carbon fibre and aromatic
polyamide fibre and tolerates temperatures of 350°C to
550°C(660°F-1020°F) At higher temperatures, is only
carbonised; it will not melt and will therefore not adhere to hot
aluminium.
